PIERRE — Governor Kristi Noem and Secretary of Public Safety Craig Price addressed the media on Tuesday regarding the investigation into the fatal weekend accident involving South Dakota Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg.

Price addressed the investigation before the question-and-answer session, stating that key parts of the investigation have been outsourced to avoid any appearance of impropriety. The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation will be heading the crash investigation.

The Secretary also stated that an outside private firm from Wyoming will be assisting in the investigation, but he did not have the name with him at the press briefing.

Asked why AG Ravnsborg was still working and not on administrative leave during the investigation, Gov. Noem responded, “It hasn’t been addressed yet.”

Multiple questions were asked regarding specifics of the case, but both Price and Noem referred to the case as an “active investigation” and declined further comment on case specifics.
