Governor candidate to speak at Thursday forum

HURON – State Senate Minority Leader Billie Sutton of Burke – a candidate for the Democratic nomination for governor – will address the District 22 Democratic Forum on Thursday.
The luncheon will begin at noon at the Huron Event Center.
Sutton will also be the guest at a “Meet and Greet” session from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Huron Country Club.
“We invite everyone, Democrats, independents and Republicans, to come and meet and visit with Billie,” said Beadle County Democratic Chair and former state Rep. Peggy Gibson.
A four-term legislative leader, Sutton grew up on a ranch near Burke. He is a graduate of the University of Wyoming, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business finance.
He was also a champion rodeo rider until a contest in 2007 when he was paralyzed in a freak accident. He currently works as an investment advisor at a Burke bank.
