HACA announces upcoming schedule

The Huron Area Concert Association (HACA) is alive, well and growing! HACA exists to cultivate interest in music, provide a variety of concerts in the Huron area and build a permanent concert audience.
This past year, the intermission concessions for each of the five concerts was graciously hosted by the local youth involved in S.D. Ambassadors of Music. They just returned from a goodwill tour of band and choir concerts in Europe. They met up at SDSU on June 17-20 for a tour camp in which they learned the songs and selections they would be singing and playing. Then, on June 21 the entire group of 300-plus flew to England. From there, they visited France, Switzerland, Germany, and Austria. The group returned to the United States on July 6. Again, thank you S.D. Ambassadors of Music for the energy and enthusiasm you brought to HACA and Europe. Well done!
The HACA volunteer board is made up of Emma Tschetter, president; Dixie Yohn, secretary; Susan Hines, treasurer; Molly Lamont, publicity; Ann Blondheim, membership; June Wipf, Betty Albright and Connor Langbehn, business sponsors; Jessica Langbehn, communications; Wilma Pageler, hospitality; Jessica Hotchkiss, volunteer chair; Jackie Spillum, at-large member; Heather Reyes and Ichiro Umemiya, student ambassadors.
HACA is pleased to announce the concert lineup for the 2023-2024 year:
• Phat Cat Swinger: a “little-big” 11-piece band that specializes in high-energy music on Monday, Sept. 25
• Jason Lyle Black: an award-winning piano showman who takes the audience on a trip through various musical styles on Monday, Nov. 13
• Empire Trio: a group that sings beloved songs from the world of film from the 1930s to mid-1990s on Sunday, Jan. 28
• The Garms Family: a Christian couple and their six children proclaim the hope they received with their voices and instruments on Sunday, April 14
• 7000 Miles to Broadway: Tony Award nominee Robert Spencer entertains you with a musical journey on Thursday, May 16
The location and times for the concerts will be on the ticket(s).
The HACA board works with Allied Concert Services (www.alliedconcertservices.com) to select a variety of concerts for audiences to experience. The number of concerts is based upon the income from ticket sales plus the cost for the musical artist(s). You can get a season ticket for only $50. A family membership is $115 and includes a ticket for the entire family, no matter the size of the family. A student membership is $15. In addition to the five concerts in Huron, if you are willing to travel, you could attend other reciprocity concerts in Gettysburg, Mitchell, and Pierre!
More information on the reciprocity concerts and locations will be announced later.
Membership is by season ticket or by buying individual tickets at the door the night of the concerts. For more information, check out the HACA website at www.huronareaconcertassociation.com.
