Harold Doolittle, 93, of Huron

HURON — Harold D. Doolittle, 93, of Huron, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018, at Huron Regional Medical Center.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 31, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with military honors by the Huron Veterans Council. Private burial will be in St. Martins Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Welter Funeral Home with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. and a scripture prayer service and rosary service beginning at 6:30 p.m. or visitation one hour prior to the funeral mass at the church. 




Harold was born October 26, 1925, in Wessington to James and Minnie (Boesel) Doolittle. He entered the U.S. Army in May of 1945, and after training was stationed in the Philippines until his honorable discharge in June of 1946, when he returned to the farm in South Dakota.

Harold was united in marriage to Faye Cronin February 28, 1949, at St. Martins Catholic Church in Huron. They farmed north of Huron until their retirement in 1991, when they moved to town. They were longtime members of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish.
Harold enjoyed farming, working in his yard, and time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Faye of Huron; two daughters, Connie Melody of Huron, and Debbie (Ralph) Wagner of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandchildren, Kristin and Joe Campbell, Brian and Kaci Melody, Matthew and Ashley Wagner, and Michael and Ronnie Wagner; great-grandchildren, Evan and Aleah Campbell, and Gavin and Charlotte Wagner. 




Harold was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, David and Willis Doolittle; sister, Wilma Cronin; son-in-law, Robert Melody; nephew, Dennis Cronin; and several aunts and uncles.
