WATERTOWN — Harold Meester, 90, of Watertown, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 14, at First United Methodist Church in Watertown. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday at the Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown.
Burial will be in the Arlington City Cemetery at Arlington.
Harold Herbert Meester was born September 6, 1927, in Willow Lake to John and Mae (Schmidt) Meester. In 1945, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served three tours of duty. He was united in marriage to Darlene Anderson June 6, 1954. In 1973, he became a feed salesman for Moorman Manufacturing, retiring in 1983. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Arlington Post 42 of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife; children, DeAnn (Bruce) Hoover of Lenexa, Kan., Mark (Lori) of Waunakee, Wisc., and Valerie (Rick) Kuestermeyer of Wolsey; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Delores (Roger) Denman of Rapid City.
He is preceded in death by brothers, Joe J. and Herman Meester.  
In lieu of flowers the family would like memorials to be designated to the American Legion Edgar I. Herrick Post 42 in Arlington, or The First United Methodist Church in Watertown.
