HURON — Harry W. Baltzer, 89, of Huron, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2019, on Veterans Day, at the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls. Per Harry’s wishes, he will be cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date.
Harry Wilbur Baltzer was born on October 11, 1930, in Wessington Springs to parents Emanuel and Bertha (Redmann) Baltzer. Harry attended country schools in Jerauld and Beadle Counties and graduated from Alpena High School. Harry attended Huron College and South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, graduating with a degree in engineering. Harry served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged.
He was remembered for riding his bike around town and taking up various causes he believed in.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Oscar, Eldon, Robert, and Alvin; sisters, Erna, Hulda Selma Ristine, and Lillian Lesney.
He is survived by two brothers, Thomas and Arnold; as well as many nieces and nephews.
