REDFIELD — Harvey Beard, 99, of Redfield, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018, at Redfield Community Memorial Hospital.
His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 10, at United Methodist Church of Redfield. Burial with military honors will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield.
Visitation with family present, will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday at the Eastern Star Home Chapel.
Marion Harvey Beard was born June 5, 1918, near Frankfort to John and Anna (Torkelson) Beard. He entered the Air Force June 25, 1941, serving during WWII, and was honorably discharged in 1945. He purchased his own farm north of Tulare in 1955, and also worked for Peterson Implement and trucked for Heuther’s. He was united in marriage to Aletha “Pinky” Nelson March 30, 1951. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Redfield, the American Legion, and the VFW.
He is survived by his children, Sandra (Jeff) Wagner of Redfield, Loren Beard of Harrisburg, and Brian (Cindy) Beard of Aberdeen; five granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren, as well as other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife; brothers, Kermit, Leonard, Alvin and Dean; infant granddaughter, Courtney Wagner; and daughter-in-law, Suz Beard.
The family requests memorials be made to Eastern Star Home or Kennedy Tomsha Memorial Scholarship at Hitchcock-Tulare High School.
