SIOUX FALLS — Huron’s Kayla Harvey capped her girls’ tennis season by winning a consolation championship on Saturday during the State Tennis Meet.
Harvey met Alana Moe of Sioux Falls Roosevelt in the consolation title match of third flight singles and recorded a 10-3 victory.
“I am so proud of the way Kayla played this weekend and the way she was able to win this match and close her season on a positive note,” Huron coach Leah Branaugh said. “She had previously lost to this girl in a close match at the start of the season and I was pleased with the way she turned the match into a win today.”
Harvey was the lone player remaining in the tournament for the Tigers, who finished 20th in the final team standings with 28 points.
“Overall, I would have liked to have placed higher as a team at the state tournament, but I think there are many positives to take away from the season,” Branaugh said. “Every girl improved and that’s the end goal.”
