SIOUX FALLS — Huron’s Kayla Harvey capped her girls’ tennis season by winning a consolation championship on Saturday during the State Tennis Meet.
Harvey met Alana Moe of Sioux Falls Roosevelt in the consolation title match of third flight singles and recorded a 10-3 victory.
“I am so proud of the way Kayla played this weekend and the way she was able to win this match and close her season on a positive note,” Huron coach Leah Branaugh said. “She had previously lost to this girl in a close match at the start of the season and I was pleased with the way she turned the match into a win today.”
Harvey was the lone player remaining in the tournament for the Tigers, who finished 20th in the final team standings with 28 points.
“Overall, I would have liked to have placed higher as a team at the state tournament, but I think there are many positives to take away from the season,” Branaugh said. “Every girl improved and that’s the end goal.”

Sioux Falls Lincoln, which won three of the six singles titles and a doubles title, claimed the state championship with 650 points. Sioux Falls O’Gorman was second at 508.
, followed by Rapid City Stevens at 494, Mitchell at 421.5 and Watertown at 374.
