HURON — Hazel M. Murphy, 103, of Huron, passed away Friday, May 11, 2018, at Violet Tschetter Memorial Home.
Cremation has taken place and private family service will be held later this summer.
Hazel Mavis Murphy was born October 29, 1914, in Carthage to George and Vera (Baker) Murphy. She attended school and graduated from Huron High School. She also attended business college.
Hazel worked as a bookkeeper for various businesses, and for many years at Huron Manufacturing.  
She was a gifted artist, handcrafting her own greeting and Christmas cards. She was also a talented seamstress, sewing most of her clothes. Her family will remember her for making the best pies and other baked goods.
She was very close to her sister-in-law, Irene. They were more like sisters and had been neighbors for many years on the farm, at Countryview Estates and the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home, always just a few doors apart.
She is survived by her special sister-in-law, Irene; nieces and nephews, Joan (Herm) Schempp of Boulder, Colo., Mike (Sammy) Eichinger of Walla Walla, Wash., VeeAnn (Loren) Ambers of Reno, Nev., Pat (Bonnie) Murphy of Liberty Lake, Wash., and Kathy (Denny) Mead of Huron.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Juanita (Lee) Eichinger, Melvin Murphy, and Imogene (Park) Oviatt.
