WICHITA, Kan. — Helen Rose Clark, 91, of Wichita, Kan., and formerly of Huron, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2020, in Wichita.
Funeral arrangements are pending with the Kuhler Funeral Home in Huron.
Helen was born February 10, 1929, at Bismarck, N.D., to George and Rose (Vasika) Miska.
She married Howard Clark on August 10, 1952, in Fergus Falls, Minn.
Helen received a bachelor’s degree in medical technology from Macalester College and worked as a medical technologist at Huron Regional Hospital and later at Tschetter & Hohm Clinic. This included managing the hospital lab for a period and helping manage the blood bank activities.
Helen loved her family and,as an only child, especially loved the larger Clark family she married into. She loved music, excelling at clarinet in her youth but also singing in choirs for most of her adult life including the Macalester Radio Singers and church choirs in Oskaloosa, Iowa, St. Joseph, Mo., Worthington, Minn., and First Presbyterian Church in Huron where she had been a member since 1968. She was active at First Presbyterian and La Sertoma in Huron.
Helen grew up in Fergus Falls and, so, it was natural that she loved lake-time on the beach with a close friend or two and family nearby. She spent many summer weeks on Minnesota’s Ottertail Lake and Lake Minnewaska.
After retirement, Helen continued living in Huron, until recently moving to Wichita, Kan., to be near her son. But she loved Huron and the friends she made and held dear there.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Howard in 2014.
She is survived by her three sons, Greg (Connie) Clark of Wichita, Kan., Steve (Carolyn) Clark of Forest, Va., David (Ruth) Clark, Troy, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Kyle Clark, Alex Clark, and Joshua Clark.
