MITCHELL — Henrietta Doering 87, of Mitchell passed away Monday, January 7, 2019, at the Firesteel Nursing Home.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Friday January 11, at the First United Methodist Church in Wessington Springs. Burial will be in the Westlawn Cemetery at Letcher. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the church with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Henrietta was born December 24, 1931, to Gerrit Sr. and Katie (Plooster) Von Eye. She was united in marriage to Ralph Doering Sr. December 24, 1952. The couple farmed in Aurora County until Ralph’s death in 1977. In Mitchell, she worked at a restaurant, Symcom and as a custodian at Gertie Belle elementary school.
She is survived by her children, Ralph Jr. of Omaha, Neb., Mary Eagle of Rapid City, Susan Hicks of Doniphan, Neb., Lila Stach of Letcher, Nancy Doering of Hot Springs, Bonnie Spaans of Rock Valley, Iowa, Wanda Jaasund of Rapid City, Ivan Doering of Mitchell, Cindy Zwerneman of Spring, Texas, Wayne Doering, and Mark Doering both of Rapid City; 55 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; brother, Johnny Von Eye, and sisters-in-law, Maggie Doering, and Dorothy Powell.
She was preceded in death by her husband; nine siblings; sons, Tony, and Lyle; and four grandchildren.
