HHS Speech and Debate attends Golden Eagle Cup

HURON — The Huron Tigers Speech and Debate team attended the Golden Eagle Cup at Aberdeen Central on Friday, Nov. 3. Aberdeen hosted 374 competitors representing 22 schools.

Huron’s Khunnaphat Muepae competed in Non Original Oratory, and came away with an impressive first place finish in his first varsity competition.

Also finishing strong and ending up in fifth place was the reader’s theater team of Lily Halter, Tessa Gogolin, Antony Sorto and Cameron Cutshaw.

Huron’s duo interp team of Green Ta Bah and Antony Sorto placed eighth, and Mylie Byrd and Samantha Swanson’s duo had a 12th place finish.

In humorous interp, Tessa Gogolin had a 10th place finish, and Cameron Cutshaw was in 13th place.

In program oral interp (POI), Samantha Swanson finished fourth and Lily Halter finished in sixth. Mackenzie Copeland placed 19th in dramatic interp.

Also competing and getting her first varsity experience in dramatic interp was freshman Isabella Schafer.
