HURON — Two young women from Pierre are in custody after a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle ended around Fourth Street and Wisconsin Avenue Northwest on Monday morning.

The Beadle County Sheriff’s department was notified that the vehicle, that had been stolen in Pierre and tracked by GPS, was located near the junction of U.S. Highways 281 and 14.

The sheriff stopped the vehicle, but it then took off and officers with the Huron Police department continued the chase in Huron along Fourth Street Northwest, where the vehicle left the road and crashed into a residential fence.

The two females, who were heading to Sioux Falls, ran from the vehicle and were apprehended.

Shania Dubois, 22, and Chantelle Dubois, 19, are charged with eluding police, aggravated and grand theft. They were both out on bond for other charges in Hughes County, and Chantelle had just been released from prison on Aug. 7.

They remain in the Beadle County Regional Correction Center on $10,000 cash surety bonds.
