Hitchcock, Redfield to host blood drives

Posted

Living through a pandemic can lead to many uncertainties, although one thing is certain — the need for blood never ceases. Blood is only usable for 42 days, so a constant supply is always needed, no matter the season.

Vitalant Blood Drives are planned in both Redfield and Hitchcock.

• Redfield will host a blood drive on Monday, Jan. 25, from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Schedule by calling Marvin Mannie at (605) 460-2420.

• Hitchcock will host a blood drive on Monday, Feb. 1, from 1:30 to 6 p.m. at the united Methodist Church. Schedule by calling Paula Vanscharrel at (605) 266-8366.

To help speed up the process, donors can now complete their Health History the day of their donation by visiting www.vitalant.org

Vitalant is offering COVID-19 antibody testing with each complete blood draw to help find future convalescent plasma donors!

Volunteer blood donors must at least 16 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Additional height/weight requirements apply to donors 22 and younger, and donors who are 16 must have signed permission from a parent or guardian. For questions on eligibility, call 1-800-289-4923.
