Hitchcock-Tulare third in Redhawk tourney

ESTELLINE - The Hitchcock-Tulare Lady Patriots won two matches and lost one, coming away with third place in the Redhawk volleyball tournament on Saturday in Estelline.

The Lady Patriots recovered after dropping the first set against Great Plains Lutheran to come away with a 2-1 victory, 19-25, 25-23, and 25-17.

Katelyn Schroeder recorded 10 kills and nine digs in the match while Lila Johnson paced the Hitchcock-Tulare offense with 19 assists.

The Lady Patriots fell in two hard-fought sets to host Estelline-Hendricks in the semifinals, 25-23 and 25-23.

Schroeder was 14 of 14 serving with an ace while also recording five kills and four digs. Ella Johnson also had five kills, and Lila Johnson set up the Lady Patriot offense with 13 assists.

The Lady Patriots came away with third place in the tournament with a 25-18 and 25-14 victory over Langford.

Ella Johnson had a strong match serving for the Lady Pats, going 11 of 13 with four aces.

Schroeder had six kills and Lila Johnson led the team with 12 assists.

Hitchcock-Tulare (2-2) travels to Redfield on Tuesday.
