In support of BelieveFest and to help reduce the spread of germs in the Huron Public Schools, Huron Regional Medical Center is collecting boxed facial tissues.
With a theme of “Caring is not Sharing,” HRMC departments have been challenged to collect at least 30 boxes with a goal of collecting more than 600 boxes total. The community is invited to join the effort by dropping off boxes at the HRMC Physicians Clinic, located at 534 Oregon Avenue SE, or in the main hospital lobby. The boxes will be labeled with germ safety information to further promote good hygiene habits.
BelieveFest attendees will list their name, grade and school and the tissue will be delivered to their classroom. If you’d like to participate, please drop donations off by Wednesday, Aug. 9 at 5 p.m.
BelieveFest is a community school supply giveaway for families with financial need organized by Huron First United Methodist and Riverview United Methodist Churches.
BelieveFest will be held on Saturday, Aug. 12, from 9 to 11 a.m., when children in grades kindergarten through eighth and their families can visit Washington School, 1451 McClellan Dr., to pick out school supplies and visit booths from sponsors and other agencies. Children must be present before supplies will be issued.
Free eye exams for all ages will be offered by the Lions. The organizers thank every business and individual who has helped our community prepare for this event.
New this year, alternative prizes will be offered to encourage children to not take school supplies they may have at home in perfectly good shape. Children may choose to receive a ticket in place of a school supply that often lasts for several years. The children can use the tickets to purchase fun prizes at BelieveFest instead of taking home another pair of scissors, a ruler or a calculator etc., that they do not need.
Entertainment is being planned for families as they wait in line to go into the school. There will also be face-painting provided by Child Evangelism Fellowship.
