Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) Foundation announces the recipients of eight health care commitment scholarships totaling $70,000, according to Shawn Martin, executive director.

“Our purpose in providing these commitment scholarships is to support area students who are pursuing degrees in high-need health careers and plan to return to work in Huron,” said Martin. “Commitment scholarships provide financial support to help ensure that the Huron area continues to have quality, dedicated health care staff.”

Scholarship amounts are dependent on the program of study. After graduation these students commit to returning to Huron to work in a community medical facility for a set period of time.

“We sincerely appreciate our dedicated donors who make this scholarship program possible,” explained Martin. “Congratulations to all of these recipients, we are proud of your commitment to improving the health of our region.”

In addition to these scholarships, the board also awarded 13 Interest scholarships to students from the region who have an interest in a health care career but are not ready to make a commitment to return here and work.

These recipients will be announced in the future.
