HRMC Foundation awards $9,500 in health care interest scholarships

HURON — Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) Foundation announces the recipients of 26 Health Care Interest scholarships totaling $9,500, according to Levi Kary, executive director.

“HRMC Foundation interest scholarships are awarded to encourage area students who have an interest in health care to start their studies,” said Kary. “These scholarships can help a student try out a health care major without the pressure of a commitment to return to the community to work.”

HRMC Foundation Interest Scholarship Recipients:
Elle Hoops – Biology/pre-med at the University of South Dakota.
Rheya Wilk – Biology/pre-med at the University of South Dakota
Sidney Salas – Medical Biology at the University of South Dakota
Jeslynn Moody – Nursing at South Dakota State University

Sike Ma Noke – Nursing at South Dakota State University
Kirstie Munsen – Exercise Science at Dakota State University
Courtney Shumaker – Licensed Practical Nursing at Southeast Technical College
Tristan Jensen – Licensed Practical Nursing at Mitchell Technical College

“The HRMC Foundation’s Healthy Huron Scholarship Program provides financial support to help ensure that the Huron area continues to have quality, dedicated health care staff,” explained Kary. “We sincerely appreciate our dedicated donors who make all our scholarship programs possible.”

In addition to these Health Care Interest scholarships, the board also awarded six Commitment scholarships, to students from the region who have committed to work in the community after graduation. The third category of scholarships awarded are Helping Hands Scholarships which were awarded to 15 HRMC employees or their family members.
