HURON — Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) Foundation is pleased to announce applications are now available for scholarship funds to promote careers in health care in the Huron area, according to Paul Rann, CFRE, HRMC Foundation executive director.
“Our goal is to encourage individuals to further their education while pursuing a career in a health care field,” explained Rann. “We welcome students of all ages to apply and learn more about the lifelong fulfillment of a career in health care.”

There are two categories of scholarships available to area high school seniors and college students pursuing health careers. The Healthy Huron Interest Scholarship focuses on supporting those who are interested in a career in the medical field but are either not pursuing a degree in a critical need field or are not ready to make a commitment to return to the Huron area after graduation. Actual scholarship award amounts will be  determined by the scholarship committee with up to $10,000 available annually.
The Healthy Huron Commitment Scholarship was established to turn the tide on one of the top challenges facing Huron and rural health care. This effort focuses on developing a steady supply of highly trained medical professionals by heavily supporting their education journey in exchange for their returning to Huron to care for this community. Commitment scholarship amounts vary and are available to students who are willing to commit to return to Huron and work in a high-need area such as nursing and laboratory science.
“Ensuring that the Huron area continues to have high-quality, dedicated health care staff is a top priority for the supporters of the HRMC Foundation and we are dedicated to supporting that goal,” said Rann.
Applications for both Interest and Commitment Scholarships must be submitted electronically by 5 p.m. on March 29. To learn more and to apply, visit www.hrmcfoundation.org/scholarships. For questions, call 605-353-6315 or e-mail foundation@huronregional.org.
