HURON — Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) honored its September Exceptional Employee of the Month, Jill Christiansen, RN, with a small department celebration earlier this month.

Christiansen, who has worked as a nurse at HRMC for more than 12 years and currently works as a nursing supervisor, was nominated by co-workers to receive the honor.

According to the nomination, “Jill is an extremely valuable member of our team. The way she cares for others, both patients and staff alike, is noticed by all who cross her path.

“She is always willing to lend a helping hand – and no job is too big or small for Jill to handle,” the nomination continued. “Jill provides warmth and friendliness to each person she encounters and goes the extra mile to show people they are appreciated.”

HRMC’s Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to demonstrate the hospital’s values of being accessible, helpful and knowledgeable. Employees can be nominated by other co-workers or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees.

As September exceptional employee, Christiansen received flowers, a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, a lapel pin and a special parking place for a month.

She earned a bachelor of science in nursing from South Dakota State University in Brookings.

Christiansen and her husband, Ben, live in Wessington and she has two sons, Peyton, age 15 and Cooper, age 12. In her spare time, Christiansen enjoys horseback riding, camping and watching her kids play sports and show livestock.

Patients or visitors can nominate an exceptional employee by calling 353-6539 for a nomination form or via e-mail at hr@huronregional.org.
