HURON — Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) honored its December Exceptional Employee of the Month, Teresa Gange, with a small department celebration earlier this month.

Gange, who has worked at HRMC for three years and currently works as a nurse aide on the medical floor and in the swing bed unit, was nominated by co-workers to receive the honor.

According to the nomination, “Teresa takes on many ‘extra’ projects with full follow through. She also takes ownership in everything that is expected of her — all while being motivated to get tasks done and stay on top of things.

“She provides exceptional patient care and offers to work in the COVID ward to help and assist whenever needed.,” the nomination continued. “Teresa has a strong work ethic, is always smiling, pleasant and friendly and is the glue that keeps everyone on task and holds us all together!”

HRMC’s Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to demonstrate the hospital’s values of being accessible, helpful and knowledgeable.

Employees can be nominated by other co-workers or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees.

As December exceptional employee, Gange received a flower bouquet, a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, a lapel pin and a special parking place for a month.

Gange received her education at the University of Phoenix and Penn Foster and holds diplomas for pharmacy technician and swing bed management, as well as an associate degree in health care administration.  She’s worked in the healthcare field for 39 years in a variety of areas such as business office, hospice, pharmacy and patient care. Prior to joining HRMC, Gange worked as the certified community manager for Prairie Villa Mobile Home Park for two years.

“I love working at Huron Regional Medical Center, we have a great team and I work with some amazing people,” said Gange. “I love the patients and try to make them comfortable and at ease during their stay at our hospital.”

She and her husband, Gene, have been married seven years and live in Huron. She has two grown sons, Jerry and Matt, and two grandchildren Ezra and Aria. In her spare time, Gange enjoys crafting and riding motorcycles.
