HRMC Honors Lar as July Exceptional Employee

Posted

HURON — Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) honored its July Exceptional Employee of the Month, Mu Lar, RN, with a reception on Wednesday, July 12, 2017
Lar, who has worked at HRMC for nearly one year and currently works as a Karen interpreter and receptionist at HRMC Physicians Clinic, was nominated by co-workers to receive the honor. According to nominating coworkers, “Mu has a big heart, a kind, gentle nature and the ability to do what needs to be done to best serve others.
During a tornado warning this summer, she braved the wind and driving rain to help a patient get from the clinic to the emergency room, not only once, but twice,” the nomination form continued. “She did this after her shift had ended and at the end of an 11-hour day. Mu did not complain but continued to smile and show compassion.”
HRMC’s Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to exceed expectations. Employees can be nominated by other employees or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees.

As July exceptional employee, Lar received a reception with friends and co-workers, a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, a lapel pin and a special parking place for a month.
Lar and her family came to the United States in May 2007 from a Thailand refugee camp, first settling in Louisville, Kentucky. They moved to South Dakota in 2008 and have lived in Huron about nine years.
“My family and I will always be thankful to this community for welcoming us here,” said Lar. “I am also grateful to be working at the HRMC Physicians Clinic helping Karen families and other community members maintain their good health.”
Lar attended Job Corp and earned her high school diploma and certified nursing assistant (CNA) license. Prior to joining HRMC, she worked as a receptionist and interpreter at James Valley Community Health Center in Huron. Lar has three sons: Hserteeh Lerpyew, age 7 years; Hsernay Lerpyew, age 3 years; and Hserkwalar Lerpyew, age 17 months. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and children, working in her family’s garden and fishing.
Patients or visitors can nominate an exceptional employee by calling 353-6539 for a nomination form or via e-mail at hr@huronregional.org
