HRMC honors Waters at reception

HURON — Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) honored its August Exceptional Employee of the Month, Mariah Waters, RN, with a reception on Wednesday, Aug. 9.
Waters, who has worked at HRMC for more than five years, was nominated by co-workers to receive the honor. According to nominating co-workers, “Mariah takes great care of her patients and is very compassionate when it comes to patient care and communication.
Mariah started working as an aide on the night shift in May 2012 — working and learning during nursing school,” the nomination form continued. “She has a tremendous amount of work ethic and continues to excel in all that she takes on.”
HRMC’s Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to exceed expectations. Employees can be nominated by other employees or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service.

A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees.
As August exceptional employee, Waters received a reception with family, friends and co-workers, a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, a lapel pin and a special parking place for a month.
Waters graduated with a bachelor of science in nursing with a minor in Health Sciences from South Dakota State University in May 2015. She worked as a nurse aide for three years prior to becoming a nurse after graduation. She currently works on the medical/surgical and ICU units and is cross training to the emergency room.
Originally from Huron, Waters is the daughter of Terry and Melissa Waters. She has two brothers, Tanner and Jaron. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, going to concerts, camping and spending time with her family.
