HURON — Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) recognized its January Exceptional Employee of the Month, Nancy Webb, CNP, with a reception earlier this month.
Webb, who has worked as a certified nurse practitioner in the emergency room at HRMC for more than three years was nominated by coworkers to receive the honor. According to nominating coworkers, “Nancy is a pleasure to work with and is always calm – no matter how busy the ER gets.”
“She is knowledgeable in all areas of patient care and keeps herself current by participating in continuing education and reading recent studies,” the nomination continued. “Nancy always takes time to listen, ask questions and make sure everyone is comfortable.”
HRMC’s Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to demonstrate the hospital’s values of being accessible, helpful and knowledgeable. Employees can be nominated by other coworkers or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees.

As January exceptional employee, Webb received a reception with friends and coworkers, a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, a lapel pin and a special parking place for a month.
Webb earned her Master and Bachelor of Science degrees in Nursing from South Dakota State University in Brookings. She also holds an Associate of Arts degree in nursing from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion.  Prior to joining HRMC, she worked as a family nurse practitioner for 13 years at Horizon Health Care in Martin, and also worked in the emergency department at Bennett County Hospital there.
Before becoming a family nurse practitioner, Webb worked as a nurse at a community hospital in Chula Vista, Calif., and at Methodist Hospital in Mitchell,. She also worked as a school nurse in Alexandria, and as a dialysis nurse for Davita.
Webb lives on a farm near Spencer, and has three daughters: Jenna, a nurse who lives in Spencer; Victoria who is a master baker and lives in Tea; and Suzanne who is blessed to be a stay at home mom in Sioux Falls. She also has 14 grandchildren.  When she’s not working at HRMC, she also provides care at a clinic and emergency room in Scotland and Flandreau.
“I do enjoy working at HRMC and work with a great group of people,” said Webb. “I’ve known some of them since nursing school!”
In her spare time, she likes to get together with family, tent camp, work with Belgian horses, garden, kayak, swim and sew. She also enjoys music, theater and reading.
