Huber tops field for Tigers at Pierre Invitational


PIERRE — Under less than ideal weather conditions, Huron’s Bryn Huber shot a 76 to win the Pierre Invitational on Tuesday.

Huber finished three strokes ahead of Quinn Dannenbring of Mitchell and Danielle Podoll of Aberdeen Central, who shared the second spot with scores of 79.

Senior Karlie Bigelow was fourth for the Tigers with an 81. Masy Mock of Mitchell rounded out the top five with an 82.

Kenya Bigelow and Libby Picek finished at 106 and 108, respectively, for Huron to claim spots No. 30 and 31.

Mitchell, which had four golfers in the top 10, won the team title, finishing 14 strokes ahead of Aberdeen Central. Rapid City Stevens was third in the 7-team event, followed by Huron and Watertown.

The Tigers return to action Thursday at the Aberdeen Central Invitational, which is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
