HURON — Hugh V. Lindsey, 90, of Huron, passed away Monday, November 30, 2020, at Avantara – Huron, surrounded by his children.


Visitation for Hugh will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Kuhler Funeral Home, with his family present from 5 to 7 p.m.


There will be a private family funeral service 2 p.m. Friday, which will be live-streamed through the First Baptist Church’s website. Interment will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.


Hugh V. Lindsey was born January 15, 1930, to Walter and Clara (Murray) Lindsey, at McCrory, Arkansas. He was raised and grew up in the Woodruff County, Arkansas area.


At the age of 18, he drove to the Rapid City Ellsworth Air Force Base area to pick up his brother, Walter, who was returning from overseas. Hugh became involved with the Rushmore Mutual Life Insurance Company and decided to become an insurance salesman.


Hugh met the love of his life, Georgia L. Brash, at Mobridge. They were married at Aberdeen on February 18, 1950. After they were married, they moved to Brookings, where Hugh continued to sell insurance and they started their family, Barbara and Douglas were born there.


A new opportunity came along and they moved to Huron, to start and operate the Lindsey Agency, this became home. Phillip and Debra were born in Huron, and the family was complete. Hugh continued to sell life insurance for 40-plus years, becoming a proud member of the Million Dollar Round Table. Hugh was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church; and was proud of his farm south of Huron, which was always looking so perfect.


In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and weekends at his Lake Byron cabin. In the later years, Hugh and Georgia enjoyed traveling, and spent many winters enjoying the Florida warmth.


Survivors include his children, Barbara (Michael) Graham of Toledo, Ohio, Douglas Lindsey of Huron, Phillip Lindsey of Huron, Debra (Wayne) Jungemann of Huron; grandchildren, Jason (Liz) Graham, Joel (Angela) Graham, Christina (Dana) Miller, Chad Lindsey, Kory (Tyra) Lindsey, Ryan (Stephanie) Jungemann, Heather (Travis) Wipf, Jeremy (Ashley) Jungemann; and great-grandchildren, James and Jaclyn Jungemann, Oliver and Emersyn Jungemann, Lindsey and Sophie Graham, Ethan and Emily Graham, Kaden and Kayla Mae Lindsey, Aspen Lindsey, and Jase Miller.


Hugh was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Clara Lindsey; wife, Georgia; brothers, Walter and Hoyle Lindsey; sister, Allie Mae Barnette; and four nephews, Terry Lindsey, Walter Dean Lindsey, Wayne Barnette and Billy Lindsey


In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church.
