Huron 14U opens season with three wins

The Huron 14U team opened with a pair of doubleheaders Tuesday and Wednesday, sweeping Tuesday’s doubleheader on the road against Groton before splitting a doubleheader Wednesday against Sioux Falls Post 15 14U at Klock Field in Huron.

Tuesday, Huron scored two lopsided victories, sweeping Groton 19-7 and 18-1.

Anderson Porisch took the ball to open the season on the mound, going four hitless innings, allowing one walk and striking out seven. Tyce Huber took over, allowing seven runs over two innings, striking out three.

Gavin Waldner and CJ Siedschlag completed the final inning for Huron.

Landon Hulst led the Huron offense with a pair of home runs. Porish had a home run and three of Huron’s 15 stolen bases in the game.

Davis Chase and Hunter Fenske each had a triple and two steals. Cooper Bischoff had a double and three stolen bases. Gavin Waldner also added a pair of steals.

Jeremy Hofer tossed a gem in the nightcap as Huron won 18-1. Hofer tossed four innings, allowing one run on two hits and six walks, striking out nine.

Porisch and Nolan Stahly each reached base four times. Porisch had a pair of singles and two walks. Stahly walked four times.

Bischoff and Waldner each stole two bases while Chase added a steal.

The Tigers jumped out early on Post 15 in the opener Wednesday and held on for a 6-3 victory.

Nolan Stahly tossed six innings for the home squad, allowing two runs on four hits and five walks while striking out three. CJ Siedschlag and Oakley Anderson finished off the final inning for the win.

Landon Hulst and Anderson Porisch each had a double and a single to pace the Huron offense. Hulst swiped two bases and Porish stole one.

Davis Chase nabbed three steals and Gavin Waldner stole two in the victory.

It was Post 15’s turn for early runs in the nightcap, as they put 13 runs on the board in the first three innings.

Cooper Bischoff took the brunt of the Post 15 offensive explosion, opening the game on the hill and allowing 10 runs over 2 1/3 innings on nine hits and a walk. Oakley Anderson three 2 2/3 innings of relief to close the game, allowing five runs on four hits and two walks.

Jeremy Hofer was on base three times in the game with a pair of singles and a walk. Porisch had a double and one of four Huron steals in the game.

Huron 14U is back in action Tuesday, hosting Renner for a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m. at Klock Field.

SIOUX FALLS - The Huron 13U team split its season opener on Tuesday, May 30, by splitting a pair of games against Sioux Falls Post 15 West 13U in Sioux Falls. Huron won the opener 17-7 before dropping the nightcap 10-8.

The 13U club is back on the diamond this weekend at a tournament in Watertown.
