Huron 14U splits with Watertown Black Sox

WATERTOWN – The Huron 14U team lost only its second midweek game of the year, splitting a doubleheader Monday against the Watertown Black Sox in Watertown.

The Tigers scored two in the first but had to score six runs in the fifth inning to secure a 13-12 victory.

Nolan Stahly opened the game, allowing two runs on five walks and a strikeout over 1 2/3 innings.

Cooper Bischoff allowed nine runs in 2 1/3 innings of relief on seven hits and six walks. CJ Siedschlag allowed a run on two hits while striking out two over an inning of work to close out the victory.

The Huron offense put 16 men on base, including Anderson Porisch three times with a double a single and a walk. Porisch also stole three bases.

Bischoff had a double, a single, and a pair of steals. Siedschlag and Chase Schuchhardt each had doubles.

Gavin Waldner and Landon Hulst each swiped three bags. Jeremy Hofer and Diego Colon also had a steal apiece.

Watertown scored first in the finale and followed up a 3-run Huron third with four runs in the bottom of the inning on the way to a 7-3 victory.

Porisch went the distance for Huron, allowing seven runs on four hits and four walks over five innings, striking out five.

Porisch also led the offense with a pair of singles and two stolen bases in the nightcap. Bischoff smacked a double.

Siedschlag stole two bases while Stahly and Hulst each nabbed a stolen base.

The 14U team will take its 13-5 record into tonight’s doubleheader against Pierre at Klock Field.
