Huron 14U sweeps Harrisburg

HARRISBURG – The Huron Tigers 14U team had their bats ready Friday, sweeping a road doubleheader against Harrisburg 10-0 and 28-4.
Chase Schuchhardt tossed four scoreless innings on the mound, allowing four hits and a walk while striking out four.
Gavin Waldner had a huge game from the leadoff spot going 3-3 with three runs scored and an RBI, powering out a double and a triple as part of his damage on the day.
Anderson Porisch also collected three hits, including a double, and stole a base. Jeremy Hofer had a pair of singles and a stolen base. Landon Hulst rapped out a pair of singles and stole two bases.
Korbin Brock added a double and Schuchhardt and Cooper Bischoff each had a steal.
The Tigers offense exploded for 13 runs in the first inning of the second game, posting a 28-4 run-rule victory.
Four Huron pitchers split duties on the mound. Hofer went 1 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing a hit and a walk, striking out one. Gavin Waldner allowed four runs over 2/3 of an inning, walking five and striking out one.
Bischoff pitched a perfect third inning with three strikeouts and Zach Scheer finished the game with a perfect inning, striking out two.
The Huron offense totaled 21 hits and six walks. Hulst led the way with four hits, including a double, home run, and a stolen base.
Nolan Stahly had three singles while Porisch had a pair of doubles and a single. Waldner was on base four times with a triple, single, and two walks, adding a stolen base.
Hofer had a home run and stole two bases. Brock had a double and a triple. Schuchhardt had a pair of singles and a stolen base. Diego Colon added a pair of singles.
The 14U squad will take a 12-4 record on the road Monday to Watertown.
