PIERRE – The Huron Tigers 8th grade football team split two games against Pierre on Friday.
The Tigers dominated the A-game, defeating the Governors by a score of 26-0. Mason Jurgens had a big game, rushing for 121 yards and throwing for another 121 yards. Jurgens ran for a pair of touchdowns and threw a touchdown. He also ran in a 2-point conversion.
The Tigers also got 89 yards and a touchdown from Landyn Mumbulo on the ground. Blake Ellwein was Huron’s leading receiver with four catches for 47 yards.
On defense, Charlie Martin and Hunter Fenske had 11 and 10 tackles, respectively, to lead the Tigers.
Pierre won the B-game by the score of 26-6. CJ Siedschlag had four receptions for 101 yards and a touchdown. Kaleb Rashaad threw for 118 yards to lead the Tigers.
The Huron defense was led by Gilberto Martinez-Mendoza with five tackles.
