MITCHELL — The Huron Tiger boys’ soccer team started slowly, but got rolling in the second half en route to a 4-0 shutout win over the Mitchell Kernels Thursday afternoon. The Tigers move above .500 on the season with a record of 5-4-1 after the win. Mitchell fans to 2-9-1.
“We came out a little sloppy today,” said Huron coach Leah Branaugh. “We missed many scoring opportunities and couldn’t seem to finish - due in some part to Mitchell’s goalie - but only led 1-0 at the half.”
Huron added three goals in the second half of the game. Baht Khin inked a hat trick for Huron on the day, while Thai Say added the fourth goal. Thai Say and Kyo Too had assists, while Eh Bleh and Rogelia Sanchez Perez shared the shut out in the net for the Tigers.
“We played much better in the second half and played more as a team and were able to finish,” Branaugh said. “We are going to enjoy homecoming and then get back at it on Monday. We play two big games next week, at Yankton on Tuesday and in Watertown on Thursday.”
Huron also won the JV game, by a score of 8-0. Huron got goals from Eh Tha Yu Soe, Eh Do Wah (2), Haiden McCloud, Walter Tzun, Jose Manzino, Daniel Carabantes and Aung Min.
