HARRISBURG — The Huron boys’ varsity soccer team dominated a match against Harrisburg with an 8-1 score on Thursday night in Harrisburg.
“Great team game tonite by our boys,” said Huron boys’ soccer coach Leah Branaugh. “They did a great job in the first half of really moving the ball and creating opportunities for ourselves. We scored two goals right away in the first half and continued to keep momentum.”
Baht Khin kicked the ball in the net to total four goals, another two goals were made by Kler Hae, while Angelo Pa Kae and Eduardo Trujillo each booted the ball past the goalie, totaling eight goals for Huron. Wanney So, Khin and Trujillo each made assists for the team, while Eh Bleh and Trujillo saved the ball.
“We had an overall great team effort. Everyone on the team was able to see significant playing time and earn minutes and do good things,” Branaugh said. “Kler Hae scored his first 2 varsity goals of his career, one on a pass from Baht Khin. We are pleased with the effort from the boys and need to get ready for our final home game on Tuesday against Brandon Valley.”
The Harrisburg girls’ team beat Huron 9-0 in the match.
In junior varsity action, the Huron boys escaped with a 6-2 victory, with three goals made by Wanney So, while Eh Do Wah, Walter Tzun and Tah Hey Lawl Htoo each put the ball in the net. Nick Weir made two saves for Huron.
“The JV played a great game tonite. They worked together and scored 6 goals in the second half as they were down 0-1 at half,” Branaugh explained.
Huron will host a game against Brandon Valley for more soccer action at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at the Tiger Stadium.
