Huron cheer, dance teams end seasons at state

RAPID CITY — The Huron dance team finish ninth overall in the Class AA State Cheer and Dance Championships, which were held Saturday in Rapid City.
The Tigers had an overall score of 321.75 to earn a top-10 finish in the 17 team event.

Sioux Falls Washington was the overall dance winner with a score of 394.75, while Brandon Valley was second at 392.5. Rounding out the top five were Sioux Falls Roosevelt at 371.5, Harrisburg at 367.25 and Yankton at 344.

The Huron dance team tied for fifth with its jazz routine.

Sioux Falls Washington won the jazz competition with a score of 393.5, while Brandon Valley was second at 392.5 and Harrisburg was third at 360.5. Yankton used a 339 to finish fourth, while the Tigers and Sioux Falls Lincoln shared the fifth spot with 314.

Huron was sixth in the hip hop portion of the dance competition with a score of 329.5.

Sioux Falls Washington used a 396 to win the hip hop. Sioux Falls Roosevelt was second at 380, followed by Harrisburg at 374, Sioux Falls Lincoln at 353.5 and Watertown at 339.5.

Brandon Valley claimed to the top spot in pom with a 392.5, while Sioux Falls Roosevelt was second at 363. Rounding out the top five were Yanknton at 349, O’Gorman at 340 and Watertown at 321.5.

The Huron competitive cheer team was 10th in the final standings with a score of 200.

Sioux Falls Roosevelt won the cheer title with a 293.5, while O’Gorman was second at 288.5. Harrisburg claimed the third spot with a 281, while Brandon Valley was fourth at 279.5 and Sioux Falls Washington was fifth at 265.5.
