Huron dance team fourth in Brookings

BROOKINGS — A strong performance in hip hop propelled the Huron dance team to a fourth-place finish during the Brookings Invitational on Saturday.
The Tigers tallied a score of 274 in hip hop to finish second behind Sioux Falls Washington, which was the top team in the hip hop with 279.
Huron was fourth in jazz with a score of 232.5 and seventh in pom with a score of 201.

Dakota Valley, which won in jazz and kick, was the grand champion dance team with 274 points, while Sioux Falls Washington, which won the pom and hip hop, was second at 270.83.
Brandon Valley was third at 253.83, while Huron was fourth at 235.83 and Sioux Falls Lincoln was fifth at 219.83.
The Huron cheer team finished fifth on Saturday in Brookings.
Sioux Falls Roosevelt won the cheer competition with 252 points, while Sioux Falls O’Gorman was second at 247.50. Sioux Valley was third at 235.50, followed by Sioux Falls Washington at 221.50 and Huron at 202.
A total of 22 teams participated in the cheer competition.
The Huron cheer and dance teams will participate in their lone home event of the season, with the Huron Invitational  at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Huron Arena.
