Huron dance team wins title in Mitchell

MITCHELL — The Huron dance team used a score of 251 to win the championship during the Mitchell Invitational on Saturday.
Yankton was second at 247, followed by Rapid City Central at 225.67, Mitchell at 219.17 and Patte-Geddes at 207.33.
Propelling the Tigers to the victory were top scores in the jazz and hip hop categories.
Huron used a score of 247 to win the jazz, with Yankton taking second at 231, then recorded a 255 in hip hop to edge Rapid City Central, which finished at 250.

The Tigers were second in pom with a score of 251. Yankton occupied the top spot with 259.
Huron and Wolsey-Wessington finished third and fourth, respectively, in the cheer competition.
Sioux Valley had a top scoreof 285 to win the 13-team cheer competition, while Rapid City Central was second at 233.50. Huron was third at 226.50, followed by Wolsey-Wessington at 201.50 and Mitchell at 199.50 to round out the top five.
The Huron cheer and dance teams will return to Mitchell for the Eastern South Dakota Conference Championships on Thursday at 5 p.m.
Wolsey-Wessington will close the regular season today at the Faulkton Invitational.
