Huron eighth graders finish 5-0

HURON — The Huron eighth-grade football team capped a perfect season with a 33-0 victory against Aberdeen Central on Tuesday. It was the second-straight undefeated season for this group of players.

“We are so proud of this group of young men! They are the true definition of team success,” said Tony Thomas and Al Steffen, who serve as co-coaches for the Huron eighth graders. “The offense and defense line definitely set the tone in our games. “ 

Moses Gross hauled in a 28-yard touchdown pass from Colton McNeil and had TD runs of 25 and 20 yards for the Tigers, who ended the season at 5-0. .

McNeil also had touchdown passes of 31 and 34 yards to Kolby Hofer. He was 11-19 passing for 163 yards.

Gross finished with 122 yards rushing on 13 carries, while Hofer had seven carries for 77 yards.

Hofer also led Huron defensively with 13 tackles and three sacks. Gross had eight tackles and a fumble recovery, while Jack Pedersen had five tackles and a sack and Vinny Bales had an interception.
