HMS volleyball teams compete at Big 4 Tournament

BROOKINGS — The Huron eighth-grade volleyball team went 3-0 on Saturday to claim its second consecutive Big 4 Tournament championship.
The Tigers, who finished the season 13-1, defeated Watertown with set scores of 25-17 and 27-25; Brookings with set scores of 25-16 and 25-11; and Mitchell with set scores of 25-17 and 25-16.
Members of the current eighth-grade team also won the Big 4 title as seventh-graders.
Brynn Gose had 12 kills and eight aces to lead the Tigers during the tournament, while Heavan Gainey had 11 kills and four aces. Karsyn Kopfmann and Isabelle Ellwein both finished with seven kills and four aces, while Bryn Huber had 40 assists, three kills and three aces. Kaydence Tschetter also had an ace.
