Huron Elks offers scholarships


HURON — The Huron Elks Lodge No. 444 is offering Most Valuable Student (MVS) four-year scholarships based on academics, leadership and financial need.

Applications can be found online at enf.elks.org/MVS. The application deadline is Nov. 15.

The Elks National Foundation (ENF) will award 500 four-year scholarships based on academics, leadership, and financial need. National awards range from $1,000 per year to $12,500 per year. The national awards will be announced in April 2021.

MVS scholarships are for students pursuing a four-year degree on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 semester hours), at a U.S. college or university next school year. Some important applicant details include:

• Current high school seniors (or equivalent) who are citizens of the United States are eligible to apply.
• Applicants do not have to be related to a member of the Elks.
• Male and female students compete separately.

The Huron Elks Lodge has 36 schools in its district. Please have your students choose Huron Elks Lodge No. 444 as their sponsoring Lodge. Complete details can be found at enf.elks.org/MVS.

Legacy Awards program
The ENF is also sponsoring a Legacy Awards program, which provide $4,000 scholarships for children and grandchildren of dues-paying Elk members. The ENF will offer a total of 350 national awards. The application deadline for this award is Feb. 5.

Vocational scholarship
The South Dakota Elks Vocational Scholarship is a $1,000 award given by the South Dakota Elks Association for students will be enrolling in a post-secondary vocational technical school program by the fall of 2021.

Applications must be received by your local Elks Lodge by Monday, Nov. 16.
