BROOKINGS — The Huron girls’ tennis team emerged with a split in a pair of matches on Saturday.

Aberdeen Central recorded a 9-0 victory against the Tigers.

Huron’s Lizzy Heinen challenged for the win at No. 2 singles, before suffering a 10-8 setback against Avery Tennant, while Say Glay also had a solid showing at No. 4, dropping a 10-7 decision to Livia Douglas.

Ann Hoek and Madeline Kleinsasser nearly pulled out a win for the Tigers in No. 2 singles. The pair took the match to a tiebreaker, but came up on the short end of 10-9 score after a 7-5 tiebreaker against Laney Gonsor and Douglas of Aberdeen Central.

Huron emerged with a 4-3 victory in a match against Yankton, which was missing a player from its lineup do to illness.

Glay at No. 4, Paw Kler Mood at No. 5 and Kleinsasser at No. 6 all earned singles wins for the Tigers.

Glay and Moo combined for a 10-7 victory in No. 3 doubles to secure the win for Huron.

The Tigers will travel to face Madison on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
