Huron finishes 15th in Class AA state golf tournament


YANKTON — The Sioux Falls Roosevelt Rough Riders took the title with a score of 625 in the competition after the team tallied 323 in the second round of the Class AA boys’ state golf tournament Tuesday at the Hillcrest Golf and Country Club in Yankton.
Sioux Falls O’Gorman and Sioux Falls Lincoln each fell two strokes short for tied second place at 627, Rapid City Stevens totaled 635 for fourth and Yankton took fifth at 641. Huron placed at 15 with a score of 793 after both rounds of the state championship.
Top player was Roosevelt’s Jack Lundin with 73 in round one and 77 today for a total of 150, while tied for second with 152 were Adam Salter and Ben Daane of Rapid City as well as Sioux Falls Lincoln’s Nash Stenberg.
Huron’s Landon Roberts led the Tigers, finishing at 55 with a score of 181, Will Smith was 77th at 197, Nathan Gauer finished at 81 with 202, while Marty Boetel was 85th with a score of 213.
