HURON — Two seniors and two sophomores have earned Player of the Week honors for the Huron football team for their performance in the game Friday in Sturgis.

Senior Ryan Janes earned the defensive honor after recording an interception and a return to put the Tigers in scoring position, according to head coach Scott Spanton.

Senior Tristan Cardona, who serves on the offensive and defensive lines and handles the kicking duties, earned the special teams honor. He had a perfectly executed on-side kick to give Huron one final opportunity for the win.

Sophomore Elliot Devries earned the offensive honor with some solid play during his first official start at right tackle on the varsity level, according to Spanton.

Scout team honors went to sophomore Hayden Kane, who plays linebacker and tight end.

“He did a great job all week, stepping up on our scout team and giving us a good look on both sides of the ball,” Spanton said of Kane.

The Tigers, who are now 2-3, travel to play Pierre at 7 p.m. Friday.
