Huron golfers compete in Pierre Invitational

PIERRE — Jake Olson earned the medalist honors to help Watertown to the team title during the Pierre Invitational on Tuesday.

The Arrows finished at 284 to top the 16-team standings. Pierre was seven strokes back in second, while Mitchell was third at 301.

Rounding out the top five were Brandon Valley at 304 and Yankton at 305.

Olson finished with a low round of 66, which was six strokes under par, for Watertown. Pierre teammates Nick Bothun and Sawyer Sonnenschein were second and third, respectively, with scores of 70 and 71.

The Arrows owned the next three spots as Ty Lenards turned in a 72 to finish fourth. Kaden Rylance was fifth with a 73, while Gabe Norberg was sixth at 73.

Jack Bales led Huron with an 89 to finish in spot No. 62. Jase Bales turned in a 97 for the Tigers, while Kolton Ogle shot 104, Riley Jankord finished at 106 and Oakley Schnable had a 115.

Next up for Huron is the Huron Invitational at 10 a.m. Friday at Broadland Creek Golf Course.
