Huron golfers finish 11th in Brookings Invitational

BROOKINGS — The Huron girls’ golf team finished 11th in the Brookings Invitational on Thursday.
Sioux Falls O’Gorman won the event with 329, while Aberdeen Central was second at 344. Sioux Falls Roosevelt was third at 351, followed by Yankton at 354 and Harrisburg at 359.
The Tigers turned in a team score of 396.

Sioux Falls O’Gorman teammates Sophia Slater and Emily Olson were first and second, respectively, with scores of 79. Salter won the title by shooting 38 on the back nine to win a scorecard playoff.
Jayda Shillingstad led Huron with a 93, which put her in a tie for the 28th spot. Karlie Bigelow was just a stroke back at 94, which give her a share of the 32nd spot.
Rounding out the lineup for the Tigers were Mattie Huber at 102 and Kenya Bigelow at 107.
Huron retuns to action May 22 at the Watertown Invitational.
