BROOKINGS — With just four golfers in the field, the Huron boys’ golf team finished 12th in the 12-team field during the Brookings Invitational, which was held Monday at the Brookings Country Club.
Sioux Falls O’Gorman shot even par to finish with a total of 288 and won the team title. Aberdeen Central was second at 303, followed by Sioux Falls Washington at 307, Pierre at 315 and Watertown at 321.
Jonah Dohrer of Aberdeen Central led the 70-golfer field with a score of 67 to win the medalist honors. Bryce Hammer of O’Gorman and Sam Batta of Watertown shared the second spot with scores of 69, while Blake Dornbusch of O’Gorman was fourth at 72.
Sharing the fifth spot with scores of 73 were Austin Hoss of Pierre and Michael Statz of O’Gorman
Nolan Wiegel of Huron finished just three strokes out of the top five with a score of 76, which placed him in a four-way tie for spot No. 13.
Mason Rozell carded an 86 for the Tigers to tie for 44th, while Jacob Wehde and Nathan Gauer had rounds of 91 and 95, respectively.
The Huron golfers return to action Friday at the Mitchell Invite.
