BROOKINGS — A trio of Huron golfers have the potential to earn all-state honors, but all three have some work to do following the opening round of the Class AA State Boy's Golf Tournament on Monday at Brookings Country Club.
Senior Mason Rozell turned in a low round of 86 for the Tigers through the first 18 holes of play to place him in a tied for the 52nd spot. Freshman Landon Roberts carded an 87 in the opening round  and is tied for 54th, while senior Jacob Wehde shot an 89 to claim a share of spot No. 64 in the 105-golfer field.
Rozell sits six strokes outside of the top-25 cutoff, which qualifies for all-state honors.

Adam Salter of Rapid City Stevens was the individual leader after the first round with a 71, while Jackosn Faber of Brandon Valley was second at 73. Ryan Neff of Sioux Falls Lincoln was third at 74, while Yankton teammates Michael Frick and Simon Hacecky shared the fourth spot with scores of 75.
After the first 18 holes of the 36-hole event, Rapid City Stevens led the team standings with a 302. Sioux Falls Lincoln was five strokes back at 307, while Spearfish was third at 312. Sioux Falls Roosevelt and Yankton were fourth and fifth, respectively, with scores of 315 and 317.
Huron had a score of 362 to sit 15th heading into the final round.
Rounding out the lineup for the Tigers were Nathan Gauer with a 100, Will Smith at 101 and Marty Boetel at 107.
The final 18 holes of play will be held today at Brookings Country Club.
