WATERTOWN — It was another record-setting day for Huron gymnast Erica Zell on Saturday during the Watertown Invitational.
Zell turned in a score of 9.700 to win the floor exercise event and top her previous best score of 9.65, which was the Huron High School record in the event.
Zell’s effort helped the Tigers to a seventh-place finish in the 10-team event.
Watertown claimed the top spot with a score of 146.975, while Mitchell was second at 142.900. Rounding out the top five were Deuel at 138.525, Brookings at 137.475 and Madison at 134.900.
The Tigers finished with a score of 131.075 to finish just shy of its season-best mark set earlier in the week.
Zell was also second on the beam for Huron with a 9.15, third on the vault with a 9.275 and 10th on the bars with an 8.55. She finished fourth in the all-around with a score of 36.675.
Watertown teammates Myah Morris and Brooke Bollinger were first and second, respectively, in the all-around with scores of 37.300 and 37.200. Rachel Blue of Deuel was third at 36.675, while Peyton Kulesa of Watertown was fifth at 36.125.
Kassie Decker was 18th for the Tigers in the all-around at 32.725. She was 13th on the vault with a score of 9.025.
McKenzie Paulson was 17th on the beam for Huron with an 8.475.
“Cameron Ruth also had a very clean floor and bar routine,” Huron coach Julie King said. “As well as Jaci Bankston on the vault and floor.
The Tigers will be back in action with a triangular at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Tigers Activities Center. It will be the final home meet of the season for Huron and also serve as Senior Night.
