Jim Koehntopp, formerly of Huron and now of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., has authored a book for pre-teen and teenage youth, “Hydraulics for Kids.”
This book will be of special interest to kids participating in 4-H and Scouting programs. He has gifted a copy of his book to the Huron Public Library.
Koehntopp, who has nearly 40 years in the field of adult education, is a former Diesel and Heavy Equipment Technology instructor at Mid-State Technical College, Wisconsin Rapids.
Koehntopp grew up in Huron, where his first job was a paper boy for the Daily Plainsman. He graduated from Huron High School and earned a degree in diesel mechanics from South Dakota Voc-Tech in Springfield.
He gained work experience at Olsen Implement in Huron, and went on to earn a bachelor of science degree at Southern State College, Springfield, and a master’s degree at the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
Koehntopp has provided hydraulics training for such business as: New Page Paper Co., Consolidated Papers, Domtar Papers, Wisconsin Rapids City Garage, Waupaca Foundry, Kretz Lumber Co., McCain Foods, Blount Corporation, Mid-State Technical College, North Central Technical College, Brakebush Chicken Co., Heartland Farms, and Wisconsin Cranberry Association.
