Huron splits four matches at Pentagon tourney

SIOUX FALLS – The Huron Tigers volleyball team, ranked fifth in Class AA, matched up with some talented teams at the Sanford Pentagon tournament, splitting four matches on the day.

Huron fell to Western Christian from Iowa by set scores of 25-23 and 25-11 and to Dakota Valley, the second-ranked team in Class A in the most recent poll, by set scores of 22-25, 25-14, and 25-23.

The Tigers were able to defeat ESD Conference foe Brandon Valley 25-21 and 25-21 and also defeated perennial Class B powerhouse Northwestern 25-21, 22-25, and 25-22.

Individual statistics from the games were not available.

The Tigers will take a 12-3 record into a home match Tuesday against Sioux Falls Washington.
