HURON — Through the course of the summer, a total of 22 members of the Huron Parks and Recreation Wobbegongs swim team have qualified for the State A Swim Meet, which begins today in Rapid City.
Fourteen of those swimmers are set to compete in the three-day event, which will attract more than 420 swimmers from across the state.
“The coaching staff is excited to see what our swimmers can do on the culmination of their season,” Huron coach Bonnie Biel said.
“We have seen all of our swimmers improve over the past three months and believe that they are ready to compete against the best in the state.”

The state contingency for the Wobbegongs will consist of swimmers ranging in age from 8-18 years old.
While they all will being aiming to turn in their fastest times of the season, Biel says the state meet is much more than just the time in the pool for the competitors.
“It is about more than just competition,” she said.
“It is also about learning life lessons on winning and losing, working hard towards your goals and becoming a person others want to be around.”
The state competition will conclude on Sunday night.
