The Huron Youth Leadership Council received an honorable mention in this year’s competition and was recognized for their creativity and impact.

“The Huron Youth Leadership Council is a group of dynamic and committed students. Their passion for United Way’s mission and their dedication to the community is admirable,” said Andrea Sok, Director, Young Adult & Multicultural Engagement United Way Worldwide. “We hope their work will inspire other students to get involved in Student United Way to create change for communities around the world.”
The Community Champions awards program was open to any Student United Way chapter or individual for work completed in 2017. Winners will be recognized throughout the summer. The Huron Youth Leadership Council supports the work of the United Way Heartland Region. The Council is made up of high school students from Huron High School. The students are paired with community mentors to learn about board and community leadership. The 2017 Council allocated thousands of dollars, including funds they raised, to community organizations throughout the region.
